ZPC Kariba managed to collect their first set of maximum points after they beat Bulawayo Chiefs in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at the National Sports Stadium yesterday.

The team opened the campaign with a draw away against Highlanders and yesterday’s win made head coach Darlington Dodo a happy man. Foster Dhemere made all the difference in the 66th minute when he managed to break through a counter attack after Bulawayo Chiefs had taken a corner.

Dhemere’s goal came after his side had missed a penalty through Moses Demera in the first half after Collen Muleya was hacked down in the box.

ZPC Kariba had a quiet first half but returned for the second half a changed side as they missed several scoring opportunities.

Bulawayo Chiefs, who introduced Last Jesi in the second half breathed life and had several chances which fell to their strikers as ZC Kariba held on to the three points.

Jesi, who changed the complexion of the game was the major culprit as he missed several one on one situations.

Former Dynamos player Tinotenda Chiunye was at his usual best as he showed a lot of brilliance.
ZPC Kariba who are using Harare as their home, were playing their first game at home away from home.

“I am happy with the win and it showed that we have been improving as you can see that we are still to concede.

“We are now looking forward to the next game which is against Caps United and I hope we will be able to come out with a positive result. The boys have been training hard and we are looking forward to continue doing well,” said Dodo.

Lizwe Sweswe, the Bulawayo Chiefs coach conceded defeat and said they had a lapse in concentration which cost them.

“I am very disappointed with the result, we had a good game but results did not come.

“We had our chances and failed to bury them and that was where we lost it.
