FANS will have to wait a bit longer for the new Professor album, as DJ Oskido’s Kalawa Jazmee has no plans to release it any time soon. The last time the popular performer put out an album was in 2014. It was called University of Kalawa and contained hits like Jezebel, Imoto and Jimaphi. But the kwaito star from Umlazi, south of Durban, whose real name is Mkhonzeni Langa, told Daily Sun he was ready to surprise his fans with new music.

“I’m not one of those artistes who work alone but want to release albums on a regular basis. “For now I will continue working with other artistes until my company decides it’s time for me to release my own album,” he said.

When the SunTeam contacted Oskido, he said it was difficult to tell when Professor’s next album would be released. “The industry has changed a lot in terms of marketing and other things.

“As the year progresses we are going to sit down and strategise to determine when to release it,” he said. Oskido confirmed Professor would be releasing singles with other artistes in the short term.

In June, the Daily Sun reported that Professor wanted to leave Kalawa Jazmee as he was unhappy with how his last album, University of Kalawa Jazmee, was marketed.

Professor’s last album sold about 40,000 copies and he has been featured on several hit songs.

He also has worked with artistes like DJ Naves, DJ Spectacular, Heavy K, Big Nuz and DJ Bongz. –
