THE Bulawayo City Council is set to introduce a tighter water-rationing regime for the city as water in the supply dams is at a critical level. The city is reportedly pinning its hopes on the completion of the Mtshabezi-Umzingwane pipeline by the middle of the year to avert a looming disaster that might result in water rationing being introduced.

A Gweru woman from Mkoba Village 11 has been arrested after she allegedly killed her newly born baby by boiling it on a stove after the father denied paternity. The incident, which has left tongues wagging in Gweru, occurred on Tuesday. Witnesses said the woman whose name could not be immediately obtained yesterday was reported to the police at Mkoba Police Station by a tenant who allegedly found her boiling the newly born baby.

THE Bulawayo City Council yesterday commissioned water chemical dosing equipment valued at more than $8 million at Ncema Water Works in Esigodini. The project is expected to ensure that the city's residents have access to clean water.
