The late Rev Wutawunashe was the father to both Zimbabwean Ambassador to India, Mr Jonathan Wutawunashe, and the founder of the Worldwide Family of God Churches, Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe.
The Minister of Defence, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, joined the Wutawunashe family in their time of mourning.
“Elder Apinos Wutawunashe leaves behind a positive legacy of an enduring, trusted and consistent party supporter whose leadership qualities permeated the entire country through his exemplary work, selfless service and commitment to the party’s empowerment programmes and progressive policies,” said Cde Mnangagwa.

He chronicled how Rev Wutawunashe joined politics at a tender age after being a National Democratic Party (NDP) member and then the Zimbabwe African People’s Union (Zapu) and the Zimbabwe African National Union (Zanu).

“Consequently, it was not accidental that, apart from serving the nation in the education sector and later through the church as well as becoming a councillor for Zanu-PF in Masvingo Province, he continued to be a fervent supporter of the party till his recent passing on.
“May the Lord strengthen and continue to guide you during this trying period,” said Cde Mnangagwa.
Rev Wutawunashe was instrumental in assisting the late national hero, Major Charles Dauramanzi, to cross the border into Zambia with agents of the colonial regime in hot pursuit.

Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education Cde Stan Mudenge described Rev Wutawunashe as a true son of the soil and praised the work he did in Masvingo Province, particularly in the education sector.
He narrated how he worked so closely with the late Rev Wutawunashe in Masvingo and how he learnt a lot about politics and the province.
He also shared Rev Wutawunashe’s passion for the economic freedom of black people and how he desired and prayed that Zimbabweans could benefit and be in control of their natural resources.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi; the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality, Cde Walter Mzembi; the Minister of State in Vice-President John Nkomo’s Office, Cde Flora Buka; and Masvingo Governor Cde Titus Maluleke attended the burial.-The Sunday Mail
