She said the accused, Newman Mafu accused Nkosana Dube of shortchanging him of the money they had realised after selling gold.

“I can confirm that we recorded a murder incident which occurred in Filabusi area. On 12 June at around 2PM the now deceased Nkosana Dube (25) and accused Newman Mafu (23) were watching soccer at Mabuze Football Pitch when they had a misunderstanding. Mafu accused Dube of giving him a small share of the money they made through selling gold. Mafu threatened to kill Dube but they were refrained by other community members,” she said.

Insp Mangena said on the same day, around 9PM, Dube was drinking beer with Mr Mehluli Nkala and other patrons. They went outside to relieve themselves and the accused followed them and stabbed Dube on the chest and also stabbed Mr Nkala on the back.
