Apostolic Faith and Acts Church to build Umguza clinic

APOSTOLIC Faith and Acts Church is working on building a clinic in Ward 3 in Umguza District to improve access to health services.

The clinic will serve hundreds of villagers who had been travelling long distances to access health services.

In an interview during the donation of 1 000 chicks to local women by the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development on Wednesday at the Apostolic

Faith and Acts Church premises in Mbembesi, the church’s chairperson Mr Brian Masoka said their church is trying its best to alleviate poverty and create jobs for people in Matabeleland North province.

“The building of the clinic is part of our corporate social responsibilities. All the required material is there, we are only waiting for the go ahead from the head office. We are expecting to complete construction of the clinic by May 2020. Currently we are supplying Honani group (of women) with all the ingredients for soap and soft drink making,” he said. As a church it is our duty to empower women and industrialise our own district and province at large. Economic empowerment alleviates poverty and creates job opportunities for people in this area.”

The Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development donated 1000 chicks to the women.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, the area’s Proportional Representative Member Ms Elizabeth Masuku who represented the Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Dr Sithembiso Nyoni said the donation of chicks by the Ministry was aimed at empowering women.

“The Minister promised in August that she will help you, today her ministry fulfilled their promise. The is one of the projects that the ministry is doing to empower women in Matabeleland North province.

The ministry is always on the ground to help Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) because they are the backbone of our economy,” said Ms Masuku. One of the beneficiaries Ms Magret Mthambo said she is benefiting from the detergents making and chicken projects. I am very old but I work for myself so that I can earn a living. Both projects are benefiting me because I am willing to learn and earn. I am very grateful for the ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development and the Apostolic Faith and Acts Church have done for the Umguza community, “said Ms Mthambo. – @missngara
