CHICKEN Inn FC striker Brian Muza is feeling on top of the world after he broke his 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League goal drought, netting the winner for his club at the weekend.

The stocky Muza was on target when Gamecocks beat Herentals 2-1 in a week eight fixture played at Luveve Stadium on Saturday.

Chicken Inn’s man-of-the-moment Michael Charamba scored the other goal while Brighton Majarira got the face-saver for Herentals. Charamba has been in fine form in Chicken Inn’s midfield, scoring three of their six goals.

Muza, Chicken Inn’s top goal scorer for the 2021/22 Premiership season where he finished with 10 goals, believes the goal against Herentals has lifted his confidence and wants to bang in more goals.

“Finally, I have made it. I have done it for the team. It’s always good to score for your club. Hopefully, more goals will come,” said Muza, a 2022 Premier Soccer League Soccer Star of the Year finalist.

The former Talen Vision and Casmyn forward, Muza is one of the three strikers at Chicken Inn’s coach Prince Matore’s disposal. Former Ngezi Platinum Stars’ Clive Augusto and towering Malvin Whata all compete for starting places.

While Muza celebrated his first goal of the season, it is Charamba’s rich vein of form that has seen him warming the heart of Chicken Inn’s technical director Joey Antipas.

“We are happy that Charamba has rediscovered his form. He is a fit again player and we are happy he is getting goals for us. He has been our star player and it all needs team work for us to progress,” said an ecstatic Antipas.

The shrewd gaffer also named twin centre backs Mpumelelo Bhebhe and Dominic Jaricha as his top players so far this season.

“Mpumelelo is having the game of his life and so is his partner Dominic. They have been great additions to the club,” said Antipas.

Bhebhe and Jaricha, who have formed a formidable combination, wrestling the starting place from Itai Mabhunu, Vincent Moyo and Nielson Ketala joined Chicken Inn at the beginning of the season from relegated Bulawayo City.  — @FungaiMuderer
