In a shocking incident, a Bulawayo family that is related to General Vitalis Zvinavashe, who is the commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, has become embroiled in a precarious situation.

It has been discovered that General Zvinavashe’s nephew, Elijah Zindonda Zvinavashe, deserted the Zimbabwe National Army, leading to suspicions within army ranks that he may intend to exploit his family connections to leak crucial military intelligence secrets.

A relative, who chose to remain anonymous, shed some light on the plight of the family, revealing that they have become targets as authorities attempt to ascertain the whereabouts of Elijah.

It was reported that their residence in Emakhandeni, Bulawayo, was raided by army intelligence officials. Present at the time were Elijah’s father Joseph Zindonda, his sister Matikudza Miriro Zindonda, and his two brothers, Tafadzwa and Mafaro Zindonda.

During the raid, the army officials relentlessly interrogated the family members, demanding information regarding Elijah’s location.

Shockingly, Joseph Zindonda was subjected to physical violence, leaving him severely injured and close to death.

Fearing for their safety, the family ultimately sought refuge at their aunt’s house in Gwabalanda, where they have gone into hiding, uncertain of their next move.

“As a family we are now even scared to approach authorities to get assistance. After the family moved to Gwabalanda, Joseph decided to go to the family house to key some vital personal documents where he was once again attacked and left for dead, now the family does not even know what to do,” said the source.

The family now faces immense distress and confusion, grappling with the overwhelming predicament they find themselves in. With no clear course of action, they are left feeling helpless and uncertain about how to protect themselves from further harm.

Authorities are urged to pursue a fair and just resolution to this matter, ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals involved.
