A MAGWEGWE family is on the verge of separation after the wife’s love for the ruling party has caused unending grief for the family.

According to relatives close to the family, the husband Nkosilathi Ndlovu has had his wife report him to police on trumped-up charges of abuse and has also been recently abducted by suspected Zanu-PF members who beat him to a pulp all after he questioned his wife’s move to abandon her family duties to attend to the party’s business.

The wife is said to have been constantly leaving her infant child in the care of neighbours and also did not attend to her household chores while she did party business.

“Nkosilathi’s wife was elected as a party coordinator and was tasked with organizing rallies and other meetings in the district. Her duties also saw her at times going to other provinces to assist in campaigning for the party.

“However, this now affected her standing within her family with Nkosilathi complaining and even calling family meeting in an attempt to remind her of her obligations, meetings which she did not attend.

“At one point in order to fight off the pressure she was getting from Nkosilathi she made a false police report to the effect that Nkosilathi was abusing her, these charges did not stand and were eventually dropped, which is when Nkosilathi started being attacked by members of Zanu-PF,” said the relative on condition of anonymity.

The relative revealed that when Nkosilathi was allegedly abducted he was accused of being an MDC supporter who was forcing his wife to join the party.

“He confided to us that he was beaten and also witnessed another women being raped, it was so painful that when he managed to escape he vowed that he will never feel safe in the country as his wife was sending people to hurt him, all because he wanted her to do her duties as a wife and mother.

“His other fear is that after witnessing the rape, he will now be a target with the assailants wanting to get rid of him also, ” said the relative.

Contacted for comment, the police confirmed that they had handled a case where Nkosilathi was accused of abusing his wife but the matter was eventually dismissed due to lack of evidence.
