THERE was an uproar at the Zifa Central Soccer League (CSL) annual general meeting held recently after the region’s board member finance, Charlton Moyo failed to attend. The league’s financial statement could as a result not be presented which saw some clubs threatening to move a motion to pass a vote of no confidence against the executive.

The situation was only saved when league chairman Felton Kamambo pleaded with clubs to first hear the management committee’s vision for the 2015 season before they could take action. Sources who were at the meeting said the league management survived the axe after announcing that they had clinched sponsorship deals.

“The clubs were incensed by the fact that the region’s mid-season meeting failed to take place in August last year and the failure by Moyo worsened the situation as they felt the league management was not being transparent in the manner it was running the game in the region.”

Kamambo confirmed the developments and said the region had been given up to June to present its financials. “We’ll now present our finance books to the region in June.”
