DeMbare manager faces PSL charges for ‘juju’ act Richard Chihoro sprinkling something at the goalpost

DYNAMOS Football Club’s welfare manager, Richard Chihoro’s halftime antics at Barbourfields Stadium when DeMbare faced Hwange in their opening match of the season on Saturday are most likely to see him be charged by the Premier Soccer League for an act of misconduct.

At half-time when the two teams were deadlocked 0-0, Chihoro ran onto the pitch and poured some liquid at the Mpilo End goal that Dynamos were to attack in the second half.

Chihoro, not new to controversy, was seen sprinkling some white stuff at the goal in an alleged “juju” act meant to “unlock” the Hwange goal after his team had missed glorious first half opportunities.

Perhaps frustrated by their wastefulness, Chihoro then decided to take matters into his hands and “unlock” the goal, with Dynamos finding the winner 25 minutes after the manager’s bizarre act as Tinashe Makanda struck in the 75th minute.

Besides Chihoro, Dynamos might find themselves in trouble after a fan scaled over the fence to snatch a white towel belonging to Hwange goalkeeper Nedrick Madeya in full view of the police before the start of the second half.

The incident occurred minutes after Chihoro had “sorted” the goal. Madeya’s towel, which has been his trademark from last season when Chipangano were in the Zifa Southern Region, was later torn and burnt by Dynamos supporters.

Another act of pitch invasion was noted behind the Dynamos’ goalkeeper at the Barbourfields swimming pool end when a fan jumped the fence and took a pair of gloves belonging to DeMbare goalie Taimon Mvula which were in the net.

Kudzai Bare, the PSL’s communications and media liaison officer could not be drawn into commenting on Chihoro’s Saturday act.

Last year, Chihoro was fined US$2 000 for causing skirmishes at Barbourfields Stadium when Dynamos played against Bulawayo Chiefs.

Dynamos were slapped with a US$4 000 fine for disturbances which occurred when DeMbare played against Amakhosi Amahle in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League at Barbourfields Stadium in March last year.

The fines came after Dynamos protested a decision by referee Hardly Ndazi to award Chiefs a penalty.

DeMbare fans threw missiles onto the pitch, former head coach Tonderai Ndiraya, the then goalkeepers coach Gift Muzadzi and Chihoro charged at the referee and his assistants in protest, resulting in a lengthy stoppage. After DeMbare had calmed down, Mvula saved Obriel Chirinda’s penalty and the Glamour Boys went on to win the match 2-0. — @ZililoR
