THE Castle Lager Premier Soccer League’s Week Two of action promises explosive encounters in Bulawayo with two city derbies and the Dynamos versus Hwange tie.

Luveve Stadium will on Saturday be the venue for a potentially exciting tie between former league champions Chicken Inn and PSL newboys Arenel Movers.

The Gamecocks had a great start to the 2024 season that saw them edge CAPS United 1-0 in a match that was played at Gweru’s Bata Stadium.

“Derbies are always difficult to predict. We will not underrate Arenel Movers. They proved to be a good side by holding defending champions Ngezi Platinum Stars. It shows that they are in the league to compete,” said Gamecocks head coach Joey Antipas.
Arenel and Ngezi drew 0-0.

Interestingly, Arenel Movers are under the tutelage of former Gamecocks assistant coach Farai Tawachera, a gifted tactician who previously led the Bulawayo City and Tsholotsho FC technical teams.

As if that is not enough, Arenel Movers also have seasoned and steely former Chicken Inn captain Moses Jackson (43) in their camp.
Last weekend, Jackson was on top of his game when the Sweet Boys held Ngezi Platinum Stars to a nil all draw.

“Chicken Inn is undoubtedly a good side. They have quality players and we need to be careful. We had a great start to the season. Our team has a lot of youngsters. We will keep motivating the boys,” said Tawarechera.

Bulawayo football giants, Highlanders, who are coming from a famous 2-1 home win against their long-time rivals Dynamos, in a match that was played at a packed Barbourfields Stadium, will return to Emagumeni with a spring in their step to face city neighbours Bulawayo Chiefs.

Amakhosi Amahle, who lost a number of their key players that include Malvin Mkolo, Mthokozisi Msebe, Obriel Chirinda and Billy Vheremu, are smarting from a 2-1 away defeat they suffered at the hands of Greenfuel.

The Bosso versus Bulawayo Chiefs match will be played 24 hours after another potentially mouth-watering fixture between Hwange and bruised Dynamos.

With no venues in Harare, Dynamos have been compelled to use Emagumeni as their home ground.

It is a situation that the Glamour Boys were subjected to last season when National Sports Stadium was deemed not fit not to play host to PSL.
