GWERU-based hospitality concern, Regency Fairmile Motel, has embarked on a $300,000 refurbishment exercise aimed at attaining a four-star status. The hotel, a subsidiary of Zvobgo Holdings, the parent company of Regency Flamboyant and Regency Chevron Hotels in Masvingo, is in the process of completing the refurbishment exercise, which involves renovation and change of furniture in its 52 rooms.

So far 47 rooms have been renovated while five others are expected to be completed before the end of the week. Hotel general manager, Pious Tshuma, said the refurbishment exercise was part of a process which would see the hospitality concern becoming a dominant hotel in the Midlands.

“I’m happy to announce that we’re almost complete with the refurbishment of our rooms. This entailed changing the furniture as well as painting the rooms. The refurbishment is part of our future plans of adding a star so that we become the first four star hotel in the province by September next year,” said Tshuma.

“After this first phase, all our rooms now have state of the art furnishings. We’re now looking at ensuring that all the rooms are air-conditioned, which is the second phase of project.”

He said the hotel had already air-conditioned its conferencing rooms in addition to face lifting its structures and painting.

Tshuma said the hotel had set aside $130,000 which would go towards the resurfacing of the car park and the roads leading to the rooms as well as the general landscaping of the premises.

“We’ll start on the second phase in earnest and once this is complete, we’ll invite the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) to come and inspect the hotel in anticipation of another star,” Tshuma said.
