WHEN choosing a home people consider among other things, security features of the property, its comfort and the neighbourhood which has a bearing on the value of the property and security as well.

It is with this in mind that a Gweru-based businessman Mr Robson Vunganai (36) has started constructing the first gated community in Gweru.

The houses making up this gated community have three bedrooms, a lounge, separate dining, a fitted kitchen, built-in cupboards and main en-suite.

There are 68 units making up this gated community which means it can accommodate up to 68 families.
This first gated community for Gweru is being built in Daylesford suburb along the Gweru-Shurugwi road.

Mr Vunganai said he decided to build a gated community for Gweru homeseekers because the set up has improved security.

“This is a first for Gweru and the comfortable houses have all the modern facilities such as a fitted kitchen, built-in cupboards and main en-suite sitting on a 500sqm,” he said.

Mr Vunganai said the gated community will also have recreational facilities for the children.

Historically, he said, cities were built with defensive city walls and controlled gates to protect their inhabitants.

In its modern form, a gated community or walled community is a form of residential community or housing estate containing strictly controlled entrances for pedestrians, bicycles as well as cars and is often characterised by a closed perimeter walls or fences.

Mr Vunganai is the founder and chief executive officer of MashmoLand Investment (Pvt) Limited.
The property developer who studied Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Namibia in 2008, said he is committed to giving home seekers the best accommodation.

“After realising the need for decent and private accommodation for Zimbabweans and understanding that people have tight budgets, I decided to come up with the gated community which I think will give beneficiairies value for money,” he said.

Mr Vunganai said he was in his small way complementing Government and councils’ efforts to reduce the national housing backlog.

Mr Vunganai said residents of a gated community are guaranteed of improved security as the gates to the place are locked at night and only authorised persons are allowed inside.

He said he was grateful to the Second Republic for availing opportunities especially to the youths to grow their businesses.

“We have seen many young entrepreneurs expanding and growing their businesses because of the enabling environment created by Government,” said Mr Vunganai.
He said he is among young entrepreneurs that are enjoying the fruits of an enabling environment.
