Hospital dismisses social media nurse training advert

Gwanda Provincial Hospital’s administration has dismissed as fake a nursing advert circulating on social media purportedly from the health facility demanding that applicants pay $50 to the institution via EcoCash.

In a statement, Gwanda Provincial Hospital acting Medical Superintendent Dr Rutendo Manyati said the masterminds behind this fake advert were also giving people false interview dates.

She said the institution will notify successful applicants to come for interviews after the closing date for applications which is December 8.

“We have people who are sending out fake adverts purporting to be from the institution and they are requesting people to send their applications for nurse training via an email which is [email protected]. That email address doesn’t belong to the institution neither does it belong to Gwanda School of Nursing or the Gwanda Multidisciplinary Training School.

“Under this fake advert they are also requesting for RTGS$50 to be paid by applicants via Ecocash as an application fee and interview fee. They are using the number 0786 720 619 which is registered to B Chikuku and they are asking prospective nursing students to send their application fee to that number. All of this is untrue and applicants have to be careful,” she said.

Dr Manyati said applicants were also being given false interview dates at the hospital.  She said the institution had received a number of duped applicants who had turned up for the “interviews.”

She said all successful applicants will be notified of their interview dates through the media.

Dr Manyati said the interviews will be held after December 8, the closing date for submissions.

She urged all applicants to follow instructions which had been stated in the adverts in the newspapers so that they would not be defrauded.

“As an institution a portal was opened for applications on 21 November. Applications are going to be received via the online portal up to 8 December which is the closing date. The instructions for submission of applications can be found online and they can be found in the adverts which we placed in the newspapers,” she said. — @DubeMatutu
