How Khama Billiat’s injuries might affect his Kaizer Chiefs contract Khama Billiat

FORMER Kaizer Chiefs star Robson Muchichwa believes forward Khama Billiat’s injuries might have a negative impact on his negotiations for a new contract with the club.

Billiat, whose contract expires at the end of the season next month, has been restricted to just 13 appearances in the DStv Premier Soccer League this season due to injuries.

“I don’t know how serious his injury is, but such injuries are a problem my brother because we all know injuries can finish your career.” Muchichwa tells KickOff.com.

“It’s not looking good whereby someone has just returned from injury and then is injured again. So, it means he will spend most of the season sitting on the sidelines. So for me things are not looking good. I have experienced injuries, but not to an extent whereby I had to stay out for a long time.

“It’s a very big downfall. You know when you sign a contract, they look at all those things. They look at things like ‘are the injuries going to be okay or not’. So, it can affect him when it comes to situations like these because we don’t know the extent of the injury.”
Muchichwa said injuries are normal in football and he also doesn’t believe there are rival teams that are looking to sign Billiat.

“An injury is an injury; I don’t think there’s someone who goes onto the field saying I am going to kick and injure a certain player,” Muchichwa said.

“It’s just a coincidence, but it’s very bad when a player has to be out for a long time because of injury and as soon as he returns, he is injured again.

“The team is not doing well, but it needs his skills. That is where it mostly matters. It’s not like he is doing it deliberately, but he must try and get over it soon” — KickOff
