Inverted sex marriage anathema President Emmerson Mnangagwa

THE Church of Jesus in the country should stand up and be counted with Christ against satanic sex marriages that culminate from legalising gays and homosexuality – and do so with not even as much as a hint of equivocation.

The Church must of necessity anchor the Zimbabwean government’s rejection of a call by some Western countries, Canada and Spain among them, to decriminalise same sex marriages, a move that is tantamount to adulterating Zimbabwean morality with the stinking moral decadency of the West.

But let us suppose for a moment that our government accedes to the call to give free rein to gays and lesbians in the country. Will the Church be willing and ready to solemnise same sex marriages by its members, or will it be persuaded by the Bible which opposes unnatural physical relationships in the form of homosexuality and disfellowship the congregants involved?

The question above obviously puts the Church in a dilemma of sorts. Yet it should be incumbent upon the Church, as a beacon of light illuminating the way that a Christian country such as Zimbabwe should follow to soak in God’s presence and blessings, to declare with a resounding vehemence that this country should remain a no go area for homosexual activities that for instance provoked God’s anger to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.
Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa disclosed earlier this week that Zimbabwe had spurned a recommendation by some European countries at a recent United Nations Human Rights Council Working Group meeting that he attended in Geneva to decriminalise same sex marriage for consenting adults — a move that is contrary to Zimbabwe’s constitution.

It is a known fact that the West has used the acceptance by some poor countries of gays and lesbians as conditionality for the provision of aid and budgetary support by the countries in question.

One of Zimbabwe’s neighbours apparently stands as a darling in the eyes of the West for consenting to homosexuality as a human right, no doubt on account of a preponderant section of its population which is of European stock.

Be that as it may, Zimbabwe is not bound by any rule or convention to run with the Jones and Jonases, be they her neighbours or not.

Our country has put in force a legal framework to prevent gays and lesbians running riot and promoting decadent morals, particularly among the youth who are the future leaders of this country.

But — who knows — the West, not wanting to be brow-beaten by Zimbabwe’s blatant rejection of same sex marriages, might spring a surprise by offering the aid that this country badly needs to revive the economy, virtually ruined by illegal Western sanctions, by offering tied aid with the acceptance of gays and lesbians as a conditionality.

Clearly, the pressure being brought to bear on Zimbabwe by the West to legalise gay rights is nothing short of contemporary imperialism, perhaps meant to allow Western nations the opportunity to offload their gays and lesbians onto our country to pollute our morals with ways of life that are totally unAfrican.

Or does the demand for Zimbabwe to open floodgates for gays and lesbians typify end times that we are into with the world growing increasingly and helplessly riven by sin in its various dimensions?

But whether that is the case or not the message from the Holy Bible commands humanity to fear God, seek God and live uprightly in order to consummate His promises and blessings.

It is for this reason that in its outreach the Church should illuminate the path of righteousness that will lead people to acceptance by God whether the weather be good, whether the weather be bad in this carnal world.

Thus, the Church’s voice should be heard in all four corners of Zimbabwe and of the African continent as a whole saying no, no, no to satanic lifestyles that run contrary to God’s commandments.

So why has the Church maintained such a loud silence on unChristian ways of life that foreigners seek to impose on our people? Or is that in keeping with the stewardship of the flock of Jesus Christ.

Time will tell.
