LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: City fathers fail Bulawayo residents Cowdray Park residents in Bulawayo push wheelbarrows after collecting water from a communal tap in this file photo. Some areas in the suburb have gone for years without piped water

EDITOR — The City Fathers in Bulawayo need to go back, not to the drawing board, but to school because for so long they have failed the city’s residents.

There is no growth or development in the city. When we talk about Cowdary Park there are still some areas in the suburb with a long history of being called “the Dark city” because since the suburb was established, there has never been electricity, while some areas have gone for many years without a sewage system.

When it comes to Rangemore there is an ongoing administrative problem with Umguza Rural District Council which stalled suburb’s expansion.

All housing areas allocated to people are still without electricity and sewage reticulation system, yet Bulawayo is the second largest city in Zimbabwe but still lagging behind in terms of development to other towns and cities around the country.

Towns like Mutare and Zvishavane, for instance, are growing faster than Bulawayo and we as residents of Bulawayo would like to urge the city fathers to be pro-active and start growing the city.

We hope the new mayor and his team can crack the whip and start developing the City of Bulawayo.
