LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Spirit of oneness key to tackling cholera A suspected cholera victim being taken to Thorngrove infectious diseases hospital in Bulawayo in this file photo

Editor — As the cholera epidemic is now declining, I would like to thank Zimbabweans for standing together to stop a further spread of the disease.

Although some may not have been on the ground or affected directly, we showed concern and love to those who were.

Thank you to those who helped and continue to help with donations. A lot of work was done to save more lives.

Although cholera could have been prevented, it is important that we all carried the burden and did all we could to help each other.

What we have to do now is ensure that such outbreaks don’t occur again to claim the lives of our fellow countrymen. Let us draw lessons from this outbreak and look at the things we could do better to end this for good.

We all have a role to play to make our nation cholera or typhoid free, from individual level to responsible authorities. As this is a new start for the country, we hope to see change.

To the city council of Harare and other cities and town councils, there is a lot of work to be done. Let’s prevent what can be prevented!
