THE 13th Metro FM Music Awards nominees were revealed on Thursday evening ahead of the awards ceremony set to take place at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Conference Centre in Durban on March 1. After weeks of waiting with baited breath – artistes, record companies and fans now know whose name has made it on the list. The night proved to be a very good one for newcomers Uhuru and Naima Kay who managed to earn themselves four nods. Mafikizolo also received five nominations with two of their hit songs being selected in the “Song of the Year” category.

They were closely followed by afro-soul singer Zahara and another newbie, Indwe with three nominations each.

Not to be outdone, Mi Casa’s new album Sucasa and their single Jika got nominated for “Best Dance Album” and “Song of the Year” categories respectively.

Hosts of the evening DJ Sbu and Zeal announced that the Song of the Year category would now feature 10 songs instead of eight and that the trophy had been given a new look.
