A MAN from Fort Rixon in Matabeleland South was rushed to hospital after his friend struck him with a stone on the head following a dispute over $120.Thulani Mlilo, 19, survived death by a whisker when Mthokozisi Mahlangu, 23, hit him with a stone that got stuck on his head.

Bulawayo provincial magistrate Sibongile Msipa on Tuesday heard how Mahlangu was angry because Mlilo had failed to pay $120 that he owed him.

Mahlangu pleaded guilty to attempted murder and was remanded in custody to December 9.

Prosecuting, Charles Danda told the court that on November 17 at around 3PM, Mahlangu and Mlilo were at Graham Stamping Mill Clovemount, Fort Rixon.

“Mahlangu demanded $120 cash which Mlilo owed him,” said Danda.

The court heard that Mahlangu refused to pay and the two friends had a misunderstanding.

Mahlangu threw a stone and it struck Mlilo on the right side of his head.

“Mlilo was rushed to UBH (United Bulawayo Hospitals) with the stone still stuck on his head,” said Danda.

He was admitted and the stone was removed by a doctor, Danda told the court.

He added: “Mlilo suffered a possible depressed skull fracture with internal bleeding according to the medical report.”

Mlilo is still in hospital.
