ZIMBABWEAN boxer, Charles Manyuchi, is set to return to the ring when he faces Alejandro Zampedri in an IBF Inter-continental lightweight title match this May in Harare.

The build-up to the fight begins today with the launch at Gary Thompson and Associates, in Mount Pleasant.

The fight is being promoted by Charles Manyuchi Academy while Gary Thompson and Associates and Incorporated Bere have come to market and raise funds for the fight.

The former World Boxing Council silver welterweight champion has been quiet for some time.

“It’s called the restoration fight. I had lost but I am trying to come back. This year I am prepared, I want to come back,’’he said.

“I am training with Issa and Ali Phiri, they are the ones I am working with but I will move to South Africa on the 10th of April after a fundraising dinner on the 5th of April at the HICC.

“So, tomorrow (today), it’s a launch to promote the event and that’s when we will unveil all the details.’’

Project manager, Mike Bere, said the launch will kick-start their activities to source funds that will go towards assisting Manyuchi for the fight.

“We will be launching what we call the restoration match between Charles Manyuchi and Zampedri from Argentina.

‘’The launch is a build-up that we are doing for the match on the 25th of May, that’s Africa Day. So, from the launch, we are going to have a fundraising dinner.’’
