RIDGEDALE, Mo. — Jay Haas and Nick Price will serve as captains of the US and International teams, respectively, for The Presidents Cup 2015 in Songdo IBD, Incheon City, South Korea. PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem made the announcement on Wednesday at the inaugural Big Cedar Lodge Legends of Golf presented by Bass Pro Shops.

Price, captain of the International Team in 2013 and a World Golf Hall of Famer, joined Finchem for the announcement, as did Haas, a three-time US Team captain’s assistant; both players are past Presidents Cup participants and both are competing in this week’s Champions Tour event at Top of the Rock.

Also attending the press conference to lend perspective on The Presidents Cup and support of this next chapter in the event’s history were Jack Nicklaus, a four-time US Team Captain, and fellow World Golf Hall of Famer Gary Player, an International Team Captain three times.  Nicklaus and Player are also in the Big Cedar Lodge Legends of Golf field.

The Presidents Cup 2015 will be held from October 6-11 when the biennial competition makes its first trip to Asia.  Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea will be the fourth international venue to host The Presidents Cup, joining The Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (1998, 2011); The Links at Fancourt, George, South Africa (2003); and The Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Quebec, Canada (2007).

“Nick Price and Jay Haas bring tremendous experience, enthusiasm and knowledge to The Presidents Cup and were obvious choices to captain the International and US Teams as we take the event to Asia in less than 16 months,” Finchem said.

Immediately upon being unveiled as The Presidents Cup 2015 captains, Price and Haas each named one of their captain’s assistants.
Price invited South Korea’s KJ Choi to join his team’s leadership, and, in a nod to the significance of The Presidents Cup being played in Asia for the first time, Choi was given an elevated title of vice-captain.

Haas essentially “traded places” with World Golf Hall of Famer Fred Couples, asking his good friend and three-time US Team Captain to assist him in 2015.  Choi attended Wednesday’s announcement; Couples was scheduled to attend but withdrew from the Big Cedar Lodge Legends of Golf due to a back injury.

Price and Haas will announce their additional captain’s assistants (up to three, total) later this year. — pgatour.com
