A highly anticipated battle for the title of Rhumba King is set to unfold this Friday at the Palace Hotel in the heart of Bulawayo, featuring the legendary Clement Magwaza and Meluleki “Brema” Moyo.

Magwaza will lead the Macrey Super Sounds band, renowned for hits like “Kokotsha” while Brema will showcase Insimbi ZeZhwane with their popular track “GPS” at what has been dubbed the Rhumba Showdown. The event promises to be one of the most entertaining gigs in the city, given the genre’s captivating dances and its widespread popularity in the Matabeleland region.

The talented outfits will be hosted by Mr Jaiva, while the decks will be manned by DJ Ayaxx, DJ Tetso, and DJ Mandoza.

Palace Entertainment publicist DJ Keitho expressed excitement about the event, citing demand from their patrons as the driving force behind hosting Magwaza and Brema.

“As a brand committed to meeting the needs of our clientele, we are thrilled to present Clement Magwaza and Brema in what promises to be an epic show. We encourage rhumba fans to come out in large numbers and join us in celebrating these groups that have brought great honor to our region,” said DJ Keitho.

Rhumba artistes’ live performances consistently draw large crowds, with performers delivering top-notch acts to their fans and followers. Most are of the belief that it is high time that award organisers consider introducing a “Best Live Performance Act” category to honour those who excel in engaging directly with their audience and delivering outstanding live performances.
