come up with a win against CAPS United at Rufaro today.
The Chinda Boys are pointless from two games.
“I am expecting my team to play football and my appointment is not like being thrown into a hot seat to me. I can deliver because as a coach that is how I grow to become a seasoned mentor. I mustn’t be afraid of games,” said Jani.
“Fans must rally behind the team and forget what happened from Sunday until Tuesday when I was finally appointed.
“I respect Bambo a lot. He is a good coach and there is no doubt about that. He was my teacher and he is still a mentor to me but that does not mean that as a teacher I can’t beat him.
“This is football and anything can happen in the game. It is going to be a student against his master.
“Last season we played CAPS United and I was in charge after my head coach Phiri (John) remained behind attending a family problem.
“We had a good first half performance but crumbled in the second half and I want to make sure that this will not happen again tomorrow (today).”
Jani said his boys were raring to go and turn the corner.
“Morale in the camp is very high though my top striker Artwell Nyoni, defensive midfielder Tafadzwa Mombeshora and Spencer Mudune are all injured,” he said
“I am also happy with the coming in of Chuchu (Elvis Muuya).
“We played together and from last year he was attending our training sessions helping us in some areas.
“We do understand each other very well and it is my hope that we will bring something positive to the fans and the executive.”
Pardon Marime, who had an unhappy stay at CAPS United, will be facing his former team and coach today.
Captain Michael Mageja and Rowan Nenzou, who both played under Chunga, will also be facing their former coach this afternoon.
Veteran midfielder Nenzou’s magic has shone brightly despite his team suffering two defeats in as many games.
Caleb Masocha is another player likely to cause problems for CAPS United.
Jani was appointed interim coach on Tuesday night following the dismissal of Saul Chaminuka on Sunday after a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Chicken Inn.
The entire executive was also fired on the same day but the bulk of the management team bounced back into office.
The only causality was chairman Wilfred Makazhe who was replaced by Webster Chitono.
Jani begun his career at Eiffel Flats in 1992 before moving to Kwekwe Stars and Masvingo United in 2000.
He then joined Bambo at the Chinda Boys in 2003 but had to spend six months on the sidelines after Masvingo refused to release him.
He finally hung his boots in 2006 and assisted John Phiri before working with Lloyd Chitembwe in 2007.
All eyes will be on the 37-year-old coach this afternoon and if he wins the game he is likely to be appointed the substantive coach, according to the team patron Greg Mataka.
