With three weeks left before the annual Miss Curvy Zimbabwe pageant takes place, organisers are finding the going tough as the event has not been well supported by the corporate world. The pageant is expected to take place at the Carribea Bay hotel and resort in Kariba on August 9.

The models are supposed to travel to the resort town on August 4 for their week-long boot camp.
A bevy of 20 curvaceous women drawn from different parts of the country will be vying for the title with three Bulawayo beauties, Nomvula Mlotshwa, Michelle Mhlanga and Runyararo Dube  representing the city of Kings and Queeens.

Organiser and founder of the event,  ZimGossip Models director Mercy “Catwalk” Mushaninga yesterday appealed to the corporate world to sponsor the models’ activities during their camp.

“The models will be in camp in Kariba and we are appealing to the corporate world to sponsor their activities while in the resort town. We want to promote the country’s tourism and hope people will assist,” she said.

Mushaninga said she had secured accommodation at the Simboti holiday homes from August 4 to 12 but needed funds for their meals.
“I have secured accommodation and we are hoping to raise funds for their food and prizes,” she said.

Mushaninga as part of activities to raise funds, they held a fundraising dinner over the weekend at Elcoms Restaurant in Harare but unfortunately it was poorly attended.

Sponsorship for modelling pageants in the country remains a big challenge as the corporate world seems reluctant to sponsor the shows.
The country’s flagship pageant – Miss Zimbabwe faced similar challenges and had to stop hosting the event before making a comeback this year.
