A 19-YEAR-OLD man from Gokwe North is facing murder charges after killing a mining rival in a gang fight.

In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said Nation Devine Majoni (19) struck Artwell Siwetshe on the head with a machete on 25 February 2024 at Kanyemba 9 mine Battlefields, Kadoma.

The incident occurred after a dispute arose between two machete gangs (the Maziga gang, and the Mandebele gang) over the right to enter the mine shaft through a breather.

“The accused person was remanded in custody on 27 March 2024,” reads the statement.
