AFTER watching his charges hold former league champions Chicken Inn to a one all stalemate, Triangle United head coach Thulani “Thuts” Sibanda reckoned that it was pleasing that his arsenal has continued to understand his philosophy.

Courtesy of the draw result against the Gamecocks, Triangle are on position nine with 10 points, five behind early pacesetters Highlanders.

“It has been a challenging task for me as a coach. Remember, when I came to this club early this year, they had four contracted players. It was all about starting from stretch and I’m happy to say that the boys are continuing to understand my playing philosophy.

It is getting better for us with each passing game,” said Sibanda, who led Bulawayo Chiefs to the 2022 Chibuku Super Cup glory.

If there were any lingering doubts about the pedigree and class of Triangle, these were put to rest on Sunday when they produced a masterclass performance as they managed to come from behind and force a draw against Gamecocks.

Chicken Inn had been thrust into the lead by their man-of-the-moment Michael Charamba who got to an end of a Clive Augusto inviting setup, placing the ball beyond the reach of Matripples Muleya.

The second stanza was a ding dong affair and with Triangle pressing forward and deservedly got a penalty in the 82nd minute after impressive Chicken Inn’s defender Mpumelelo Bhebhe was adjudged to have fouled Wayne Makuva inside the 18 yard box.

Up stepped Ghanaian Wilson Mensah who beat a diving Chicken Inn goalie Donovan Bernard, to score his fourth goal of the season.

It was Chicken Inn sixth draw of the season, fourth one for Triangle United who have also posted two wins and one defeat to put them on a 48 percent success rate with 10 points from seven games.

On the other hand, Chicken Inn, who are yet to lose together with Highlanders and second placed Ngezi Platinum Stars, are on a 43 percent success rate on nine points.

In their next match, Triangle faces Harare giants Dynamos who won the derby against Caps United 2-0 in Harare.
