A BULAWAYO woman seeking a protection order against her police officer husband who threatened to kill her, has withdrawn her application.Sarah Mukono of ZRP Fairbridge had sued Wilson Justen, also from ZRP Fairbridge, for a protection order but withdrew the matter in court yesterday.

She told magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure that Justen’s relatives asked her to let them handle the case before the court can preside over it.

“Your Worship, I’m asking to withdraw this matter. My husband’s relatives are still looking into it and they’ve asked me to first wait so that they handle it before the court can take over,” Mukono said.

Mukono, in her application, had said she could no longer live with Justen as he was violent and had threatened to kill her.

“Most of the times he accuses me of having boyfriends and insults me. The respondent has never been satisfied with me, at one time he barred me from wearing make-up and trousers and said he would hurt me if I ever did,” she said.

Mukono added that her marriage was not working and she fears for her life.

Justen was not asked to say anything.

Magistrate Mashavakure withdrew the matter.

“I’ve withdrawn your matter as requested taking into consideration that your husband’s relatives have also asked to settle the issue,” she said.
