Women’s soccer league to start on April 13

THE Zimbabwe Women’s Soccer League games will kick off on April 13.

The newly installed interim women’s soccer executive led by Theresa Maguraushe and her deputy Dumisani Sithole has pledged to work together with the clubs that are participating in the league.

They want to see professionalism and they are keen to introduce licences for players.

 There are 16 teams expected to compete in the first week of the league games which are set for April 13.

Last year’s championship was won by Herentals Queens who finished with 72 points on the log standings followed by Black Rhinos Queens who had 67, in third place was Chapungu with 66.

The interim executive is running women’s football under the theme : “One game, One goal.”

Sizolwethu Dube one of the ZWSL board members explained the importance of unity and commitment in bettering the women’s game.

“One Game, One Goal is a motivational slogan which emphasizes the importance of everyone working together towards a single and shared objective,” said Dube.

Said Maguraushe: “As ZWSL we look forward to a professionally administered League that attracts the corporate world to partner with Women’s Football, we are trying our best to meet the deadline for kick off which is on the 13th of April.” 

The executive has been in office for two weeks and they are looking into ways to secure partnerships. 

Maguraushe said that as an executive challenges will be faced and dealt with as they come.
