Young Warriors storm into Cosafa semi-finals

ZIMBABWE’S Young Warriors powered their way into the semi-finals of the Cosafa Under-20 soccer tournament after outplaying Swaziland in a Group A match at Molepolelo in Gaborone, Botswana, last night.

Zimbabwe scored their first goal in the 32nd minute via a penalty from Kiglon’s Denver Mukamba who was also on target in the first match against the hosts. The Young Warriors beat Botswana 3-0 in their first Group A match last Friday.

In yesterday’s match, Swaziland equalised in the 65th minute but the Young Warriors regained their lead in the 86th minute through Bantu Rovers midfielder Ngobile Sibanda, who had came in as a substitute.

The Zimbabwe Under-20 team wrapped up the match in the 88th minute when Kiglon’s Morris Kadzola scored their third goal. The Young Warriors will now meet Zambia in the semi-finals tomorrow.
Coach Taurai Mangwiro said his charges had a decent match yesterday.
“We dominated the match and could have wrapped it up in the first half but we wasted a lot of chances.

“We are fancying our chances against our neighbours Zambia. We have done fairly well but should not get carried away. There is still a lot of work to be done and we need to remain focused.”
Mangwiro said captain Simba Sithole is carrying a knock although he played yesterday and was later substituted.
