THE Estate Agents Council of Zimbabwe (EACZ) has blacklisted 28 estate agents for failure to renew membership as required under the Estates Agents Act.
The EACZ regulates the property sector in terms of the Estate Agents Act, which demands that all operators in the sector be registered with the council.

EACZ registrar Bennias Gweme told Business Chronicle the move was meant to protect the public from doing business with unregistered agents.

“The following 28 companies haven’t renewed their annual subscriptions and aren’t allowed to trade,” he said.

These are; Avram and Becker, Batanai Properties, Baywood Real Estate, Fox and Carney, Hiltrish Properties, Hopewins Real Estate, Kingsroad Real Estate, PIK Properties, Property Arena, Property Barons, Property Hopes and Ruware Properties.

Others include Savanna Real Estate, Senior Services, Sparzan Properties, Vaincourt Real Estate, Venture Real Estate, Sandriver Real Estate, Atlet Properties, Rutendo Rutendo, L.Chikungwa, Cosmas Chineka, Noah Chitungo, Gildah Gorezvarimwa, E.M Hanscombe, Cevana Maderia, Levision Mawerera and Libion Mpofu.

“The public is warned not to do business with these estate agents. They’re not legally recognised,” said Gweme adding that registering ensured recourse to justice in case of a dispute with the agents.

“The main objective of registering is to make sure that in case of a misunderstanding between parties, the clients and agents get legal recourse,” he added.

EACZ does an audit every year so as to check whether there are any irregularities in the operations of estate agencies.
