A WARRANT of arrest has been issued for a Bellevue couple after the husband and wife team failed to turn up in court for sentencing on an unlawful entry and theft charge.Jarson Kruger, 32, and Mitchelle Kruger, 35, pleaded guilty to unlawful entry and theft on Wednesday and cried, pleading for forgiveness saying they have three minor children to take care of and must be spared jail time.

However, Kruger added that he did not know that his wife had stolen a phone from a house they had unlawfully entered.

The value of the stolen cellphone was $1,200 and it was recovered.

Magistrate Sibongile Msipa-Marondedze remanded them out of custody for sentencing, but they defaulted yesterday.

The magistrate had berated them for having not thought about their children when they were committing the crime.

“When you went out to drink and then decided to break into somebody else’s house and steal a mobile phone you didn’t think of your children. If l were you, l would stop crying.

“You know if someone cries after committing a crime they make me feel very angry because you knew very well you were breaking the law,” said Msipa-Marondedze.

“I’m proud of my job. My salary comes from people like you, so just wipe your tears. Jarson you should stop touching her. She is a thief and she has now got you into trouble. If it wasn’t for her you wouldn’t be here.”

Prosecuting, Dumisani Ndlovu told the court that on May 22 at around 5PM the couple unlawfully entered a house in Bellevue.

“While inside the kitchen the duo stole a Samsung Galaxy mobile phone belonging to Sinqobile Msindo,” said Ndlovu.

The court heard that the two ran away to their home.

Msindo followed them after realising that her mobile phone had been stolen.

Ndlovu told the court that the couple surrendered Msindo’s mobile phone to her.
