BULAWAYO Amateur Football Association chairman Chris Mtungwazi said their request for a promotional league status that will see their league champions being promoted to the Zimbabwe Football Association Bulawayo Province Division Three has been approved. The Bafa boss said they received the green light to promote one team that wins the Bafa league title from Zifa Bulawayo Province chairman Washington Chimanda.
“Zifa have agreed to reserve one slot for a team that will win the championship in our Bafa league. Several teams in our league are buoyed by the success of Bulawayo City who decided to apply for a place in Division Three and subsequently achieved phenomenal success and are now in the Southern Region Division One League,” said Mtungwazi.

He said this development could see more teams angling to join Bafa and with that more competition within the league as there would be something worth fighting for.

“Several enquiries from our teams have necessitated us to forward the request to Zifa something inspired by the progress of Bulawayo City Football Club,’’ said Mtungwazi.

He said the move would enhance the quality of football in the league.
“Not only will it increase competition within Bafa but it will also improve the standard of football.”
