ZANU-PF deputy secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Lewis Matutu has challenged the Binga community to vote for the revolutionary party as it has the capacity to bring development to their area.

Addressing hundreds of Zanu-PF supporters at Lusulu Business Centre in Binga South on Wednesday, Cde Matutu said Binga district is lagging behind in terms of development because it has for the past two decades voted for the MDC-T which has no development plan.

“Let’s vote wisely for a party that is pro-development. The constituency has been under MDC for the past two decades but there is nothing to show in terms of development.

“Here is an opportunity for you to vote for growth by voting for your Zanu-PF candidate Cde Maxon Mudenda as your MP and for Cde Mnangagwa as President,” said Cde Matutu.

He said this before introducing Cde Mudenda who is Zanu-PF candidate for Binga South.

Cde Mudenda will battle it out with seven other hopefuls from opposition parties.

Cde Matutu said Binga South Constituency, which is the breadbasket of the drought prone Binga District, has the potential to develop through agriculture as it has rich soils.

He said there is a need to start irrigation projects in the constituency.

“I notice here there are good soils and people produce enough to sell to the Grain Marketing Board. However, I feel there is need for irrigation so that we are in our fields all year round and develop our constituency and district through agriculture,” Cde Matutu said.

Speaking at the same rally, Zanu-PF Matabeleland North provincial Youth chairperson Cde Tamuka Nyoni said the party would wrest back Binga South constituency from the MDC-T. He said the youth league would soon engage the party’s provincial leadership to ensure that Lusulu has a District Co-ordinating Committee because of the huge support base for the ruling party in the area.

Meanwhile, Cde Matutu donated 50 bags of cement towards the construction of Sikomena Clinic in the constituency.

The clinic has been under construction since 2000 and is still at window level. Its completion will bring relief to hundreds of villagers who have been travelling for about 30km to the nearest Lusulu Clinic. — @ncubeleon
