THE Bulawayo Metropolitan Province men’s team won the Zimbabwe Easter National Darts Championship held in Mutare.
Bulawayo kept its promise to bring gold to the City of Kings after many years of poor performance despite boasting of very good players.Tapela Makado led the province’s A which won top honours with the Mashonaland West B team coming second. Mashonaland senior side won bronze.

In the women’s section Midlands won gold with Bulawayo and Manicaland coming second and third respectively.
The Buluwayo first team duo of Tawanda Albert and Brian Ndlovu won the doubles.

Ndlovu also went on to win the open singles beating teammate Benjamin Ncube. He however lost the closed singles to Kudzai Nyemba of Mashonaland East.

Thembi Sidlodlo was the top performer in the women’s section finishing third in the open singles.

Lethukuthula Nkomo, a member of the Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Darts League committee said that the team was motivated from the word go.

“Remember we had promised before the tournament that this year we were going for gold and we did just that. We have a strong squad and we have wondered over the years why we were failing to win national competitions,” said Nkomo.
