BULAWAYO’s Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Cde Eunice Nomthandazo Moyo, has said her office was engaging Lands and Rural Resettlement minister Cde Douglas Mombeshora to avail land for women and youths to start self-help projects.

Speaking on Sunday when she officially opened the Makokoba constituency office, Cde Moyo said the province needed more land to boost food security in support the government’s economic blueprint, Zim-Asset.

She said most land close to the metropolitan province was taken up.

“Development according to Zim-Asset says people should have shelter, food and education for the children among other basic things. Also, people must be able to sustain themselves through self-help projects. We’re engaging Lands minister, Cde Mombeshora, to avail land so that women and youths can start self-help projects. The government will help these two groups and the projects will help create employment in line with Zim-Asset,” said Cde Moyo.

Cde Moyo commended Makokoba legislator, Cde Tshinga Dube, for facilitating the opening of the office.

She said the office will foster development by bringing together residents and their Member of Parliament.

“I applaud you (Cde Dube) for the job you’ve done in the two months that you’ve been MP for this constituency. What you’ve done here is commendable as it helps develop the constituency. We applaud you and those that helped you bring along this idea,” said Cde Moyo.

Cde Dube said the opening of the office was the beginning of many things to come for the people in his constituency.

“This office will make it easier for you (Makokoba constituency residents) to bring in your grievances to me so that we work hand-in-glove to foster development in this constituency.

Every Friday, we will be looking at concerns raised by the residents and try to find means of dealing with them,” said Cde Dube.
