WITH striker Roderick Mutuma still absent without official leave (AWOL), the crisis at Harare Premiership side Caps United continued yesterday with reports that two more senior players are on their way out.

Caps United are set to face Dongo Sawmill in Rusape on Sunday and the Green Machine coach Mark Harrison pointed out that he is likely to travel with a lightweight squad, as several key players are unavailable.

Mutuma has not been coming for training for the past two weeks as he wants to move away while Ronald Pfumbidzayi is away on trials in Denmark and had been trying to leave the club since the start of the season.

The side is also missing skipper Hardlife Zvirekwi who is with the Warriors at the Cosafa Senior Men’s Challenge in South Africa while midfielder Gerald Phiri is also at the same tournament with the Malawi national team.

Harrison has pointed out that utility player Dominic Mukandi and centre back Stephen Makatuka have indicated that they want to leave the club, in yet another set back for the club.

“We’re stumbling along. I have just now found out that Dominic (Mukandi ) and Stephen (Makatuka) are leaving the club as well.

“They have just tendered their resignation letters,” said Harrison.

Mukandi and Makatuka were present at the team’s session although they did not train. The duo are among the seven players who took Caps United to the labour court and were awarded $59,000 in outstanding salaries and signing on fees but the club has still failed to honour the ruling.

“That means I have got more than three senior players missing since I don’t have Ronny, Hardy and it does not get any easier as we’re going with a lightweight and inexperienced squad,” said Harrison .

Caps United lost 2-0 in their last tie against Chapungu at the National Sports Stadium and they have failed to score in their last three league matches.

“The situation is not improving and something needs to turn rapidly and the whole scenario is taking its toll on everybody and everyone is getting tired now.

“I think the situation has started to eat away at individuals in the last couple of games and when it starts to eat individuals, it then starts to eat the whole group and it becomes very difficult,” said Harrison.

In the absence of Pfumbidzayi and Mukandi, Caps United could field Romerio Mutova at the leftback while Valentine Musarurwa will operate at rightback.— Sportszone.
