AIRMEN Chapungu said yesterday that they will continue in their winning ways when they entertain ZPC Kariba in a rescheduled Castle Lager premiership match this afternoon.

The airmen are buoyed by their one nil win over Highlanders in which John Nyikadzino’s boys finally found the target after 270 minutes of play.

ZPC Kariba return to Gweru after failing to kick the ball on April 6 when they were supposed to play “Waru Waru”.

The match was abandoned after heavy rains pounded the Midlands capital which rendered the waterlogged Ascot pitch unplayable.

What makes the match so intriguing is that it was “Waru Waru” who ended ZPC Kariba’s 19 match unbeaten run at the same venue last year.

A brace by Brighton Mugoni and a Pardon Chinungwa’s own goal saw Chapungu switching off ‘Kauya Katuruturu’ in a 3-0 drubbing.

Today the two sides meet as the visitors have also gone on a four match unbeaten run while Chapungu registered their first victory of the season.

Chapungu coach, John Nyikadzino said he is ready for “Kauya Katuruturu” while ZPC Kariba assistant coach, Godfrey Tamirepi said they are taking the game as a revenge match.

“We’re ready to face them and I’m confident that we will come out with maximum points. The win against Highlanders somehow instilled confidence in the side and if the boys continue with the same attitude I don’t see ZPC Kariba stopping us,” said Nyikadzino.

He said the airmen will still be missing the services of striker Maxwell Mavuto who was stretchered off the pitch in Chapungu’s 0-1 loss to Dynamos following a crude lunge by Dembare anchorman, Stephen Alimenda.

The airmen will not be affected much as they have enough attacking options in their side which also includes Rodwell Mhlanga, former Dynamos forward Allan Tavarwisa, Tongai Magwendere and the ageless Phillip Marufu.

“For us we’re taking this as a very crucial game because they were the first team to beat us last season. It will be a revenge match and we expect to win at all costs,” said Tamirepi who revealed that there were no injury worries in his camp.
