CHIBI High School once again proved to be a force to reckon with in sport after beating Kwekwe’s Manunure High School 12-6 in the netball final of the George Mitchell Sports Tournament in Gweru.The tournament which also included football also saw the Chivi based school who are the defending champions reaching the final against Mkoba 3 High School.

The final was abandoned due to poor lighting and is set to be played in the first week of next term.

For winning the netball tournament Chibi walked away with a trophy, $100 and medals while Manunure walked away $70 richer, as well as medals.

Hosts Guinea Fowl pocketed $50 for coming third while Nashville who came fourth got a consolation prize of $30 in netball.

In football’s group stages Chibi beat Amaveni and Mambo by identical 1-0 scorelines before settling for a 0-0 draw with Mkoba 3.

The Masvingo Province based school went on to beat Amaveni 2-0 in the quarter-finals before dispatching Kwekwe 1-0 in the next stage to reach the final where they again met Mkoba 3 High School.

Mudzingwa described the tournament as a huge success despite not ending as scheduled.

Chibi High School head Boniface Machingauta said a culture of winning at the school is the secret behind the institution’s success.
