BULAWAYO giants Highlanders Football Club have added another Warriors player to their 2014 season squad after sealing the deal on Monday to bring in Felix Chindungwe to Barbourfields Stadium. The steady defender who has been a driving force at Chicken Inn in the last two years trained with Bosso yesterday afternoon.

His arrival is expected to steady the Bosso ship which cracked at the wrong time conceding four goals to Harare City with the championship in sight last year.

It could not be ascertained the duration of his contract and other terms last night. Highlanders have been ruthless on the market bringing Njabulo Nyoni from Chicken Inn, Khumbulani Banda from How Mine, Welcome Ndiweni, Joel Ngodzo and Charles Sibanda from FC Platinum as well as Valentine Ndaba from Shabanie Mine.

Chindungwe confirmed that he trained with Highlanders and was warmly welcomed at Bosso.
“I have just attended the first training session and I was warmly welcomed by all the technical team and the players,” said the central defender.

He said on his contract he was still to commit to the duration. Chan poster boy, Kudakwashe Mahachi is also certain to don the famous black and white jersey together with former skipper Zephania Ngodzo.

Zephania is expected to plug the right position a problem area for Highlanders in the last two seasons. Highlanders chairman Peter Dube could not commit himself. However, Chronicle has it in good authority that Chindungwe, son of former Caps United player Kainot, was seen at 53 Robert Mugabe Way on Monday where he committed himself in writing to playing for the Mbada Cup holders.

“We are yet to seal the deal but we remain very confident that the player will be ours this season. Negotiations are progressing smoothly,” said Dube.

It is believed Highlanders want to keep most of their last signings under wraps and then have a formal presentation of the new arrivals to the media and the nation.

With the arrival of Chindungwe, Highlanders will now have four central defenders in skipper Innocent Mapuranga, his deputy Eric Mudzingwa and Dumisani “Fazo” Ndlovu and that will probably see Mudzingwa reverting to his traditional midfield position or compete at rightback where he made some cameo roles last season.

On Mahachi, the Highlanders chairman said while no paperwork has been sealed, they remained hopeful that the young midfielder will turn out for the Bulawayo giants, albeit for four months unless Mamelodi Sundowns decides to extend his loan move.

“I am also confident that we will get him (Mahachi). Talks are ongoing and are very promising,” said Dube.
Bosso are expected to seal all the deals before the weekend Bob 90 Super Cup semi-final tie against Harare City set for Barbourfields Stadium.

Highlanders supporters are expected to throng Emagumeni to have an insight into their new signings.
