THE Zifa Central Soccer League has co-opted Shabanie Mine’s Pithias Shoko into its board following the election of Stanley Chapeta as chairman. Prior to his elevation, Chapeta was the board member for administration. Shoko assumes the board membership post for competitions that was previously held by John Marima who has been moved to the administration role.

“Shoko has been co-opted into the board because we believe he brings a wealth of experience and expertise into the board. We assigned him the board member competitions role after considering that he previously served in the same role during his tenure in the PSL when he was in the competitions sub-committee then headed by Tawengwa Hara,” said Chapeta.

“We have communicated this to the clubs and I’m sure his wealth of experience will come in handy as we seek to grow the CSL brand. We’ll soon have sponsorship and there will be knock out competitions.”

Shoko has served in successive executives since 2007 at Shabanie Mine before briefly quitting in 2010 to assume the role of spokesperson at the now defunct Hardbody where he helped the Gweru-based outfit gain promotion into the PSL in 2012 before it folded in the following year.

He was among the founding members of Gweru City in 2013 with the likes of Malvern Paradza, former Hardbody chairman Patrick Chikwanda and Tapiwa Chikadaya.

He rejoined Shabanie Mine in 2013 as secretary and helped the club win the BancABC Super 8 in the same year.
