THE Nash Matabeleland North Under-20 boys’ provincial football finals will be staged at David Livingstone High School this morning following last week’s district qualifiers. The winner of today’s event will represent the province at the national finals set for Gloag High School in Bubi, Matabeleland North next week.

Hwange district will be represented by Mosi oa Tunya High School; Lupane (Zwangendaba High); Tsholotsho (Mavela Secondary); Nkayi (Tohwe High and provincial defending champions Hlangabeza High); Bubi (Majiji High); Mguza (hosts Nhlambabaloyi High and Sojini High) and Binga (Muchesu Secondary).

Nash Matabeleland North provincial head in charge for football Lunguza Ndlovu said although they had lost their sponsor Population Services International, they would soldier on with the little resources at their disposal.

“Nash will fund this event but we hope to get a new sponsor soon. We’re awash with talent in sports generally and want clubs to scout for talent (in our province) so that they develop our players as well,” said Ndlovu.

The teams were all expected at David Livingstone yesterday to complete the vetting process to ensure today’s concentration is on the actual games.
