THE country’s top bikers and drivers will tomorrow set the Falls Road Circuit alight when they take to the track in the first public drag racing of the year to be held in Bulawayo. Zane Shah, a member of the Bulawayo Motoring Club said Harare drivers have confirmed that they will participate in the much-awaited event which usually attracts big crowds.

He said motor racing enthusiasts are in for a great show as a couple of Subarus from Harare will square off with Bulawayo drivers and try their luck against the ever quick Cobra V8 of Terry Alberry.

Garreth Rousseau’s newly built Golf 1 is ready to put a strong challenge in the 1600cc class runners.

Other top drivers set to compete are Husain Rahman in his Datsun 1400, Aiden White in his smoking Nissan while Darren Pragji will be driving his champ and Scooby.

Shah said the drag racing is open to non-professional drivers.

“BMC encourages and welcomes the public to race legally and those interested should come and compete in a safe, clear and controlled environment. This is all about fun, challenges and bettering your driving skills. Registration for competitors begins at 12PM at the Falls Road Circuit until 2.30PM,” said Shah.

“There will be a number of newcomers to this event. Unbeaten 2014 biker Dave Marsberg will be taking on all bikes to pass him on Saturday. The Schultz Family will be in full force with superbikes and Magelli bikes.”

There are three runs to qualify before proceeding to the knock out round for both the cars and bikes.

There will be fun and grudge races in between competitions.

A BMWs and Altezzas’ show from Bulawayo Social Clubs is on the cards.

Tomorrow’s Bulawayo Motoring Club event is being sponsored by ColourWorld, Turbotech, Adelphia Management and Farm Fresh.
