DYNAMOS and Triangle United will meet in the $500,000 One Wallet Cup final on October 5 at the giant National Sports Stadium, an official from the Premiership has confirmed. PSL chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele told Chronicle Sport that as has been the norm, all league matches will be put on ice during the weekend of the final. Dynamos, having already been knocked out of the Chibuku Super Cup, will start as favourites although cup games are unpredictable.

DeMbare reached the final without conceding a goal as they beat perennial city rivals Caps United 1-0 in the quarter-final before prevailing 2-0 over How Mine while lowveld based Triangle won their two qualifying matches after penalty shootouts.

Triangle United beat Harare City 7-6 in the quarter-finals before dispatching Bulawayo’s Chicken Inn 5-3 through another shootout after the two teams were tied nil all after regulation time.

Winners of the cup will walk back home with a cool $80,000 with losing finalists pocketing $50,000. Teams that were knocked out in the semis will get $30,000 while losing quarter-finalists shall be given $20,000 by the mobile phone company.

It’s going to be a clash of former Dynamos sons, Callisto Pasuwa and Biggie Zuze with the former already enjoying some psychological advantage having beaten Triangle United back to back in the league although the last match at Gibbo Stadium was marred by controversy.

The final will provide Zuze a perfect opportunity to avenge for the 2-1 league loss.
