EIGHTY amateurs are expected to take to the greens in the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services Commissioner General’s Goodwill Charity fundraising golf tournament set for Harry Allen Golf Club on Saturday.

The tournament, according to the ZPSC’s regional spokesperson Garainashe Moyo, seeks to improve the Commissioner General’s Goodwill Trust Fund.

“This fund is generally meant to lend a helping hand to widows, widowers of children of fallen officers or even those officers who would’ve fallen in various calamities during their service,” said Moyo.

He said the playing format will be a Four Ball better ball.

“We expect to have 80 golfers and it’s our hope that the tournament will help us meet our goal,” said Moyo.

Four Ball is a match pitting two teams of two players (a total of four balls being played, hence the name) against each other using better ball scoring.

All players play their own ball throughout and at the end of each hole, the low score between the two partners on each team is that team’s score.

Players expected to take to the greens include Kwangwari Kwangwari, Moses Nzapu, Jabulani Nkomo, former Highlanders chairmen Themba Ndlela and Roger Muhlwa, former Zimbabwe Saints player and coach Ebson Muguyo.

Meanwhile, the Matabeleland Golf Association 2016 club matches have tentatively been set to start on July 8 with Bulawayo Country Club taking on Elephant Hills while Bulawayo Golf Club will square off with Hwange Golf Club.
