SOUTH Africa house DJ and producer, Heavy K, real name Mkhululi Siqula, is expected in Bulawayo on August 22 for a show at Club Eden. With hits such as Beautiful War, Yini, Easy to Love and Wena, Heavy K is not a stranger to Bulawayo fans as he once staged a show at the Queens Sports Club Grounds in 2013 during the Kalawa Homecoming party.

He will be backed by Club Eden DJs, Kananjo, Keezy and Slamma, as well as Harare DJs Dee Nosh, Flevah, T Fresh and TJ Nash.

Organiser of the event, TJ Nash, said the 22-year-old DJ would meet fans prior to his performance.

“Heavy K will be coming with his manager and we’ve arranged a tour of Bulawayo for him. His first port of call will be Parkview Tshisa Nyama where he’ll have an opportunity to meet and braai with fans,” said TJ Nash.

Advance tickets to the show for early birds have been pegged at $5 while VIP tickets will cost $10. They will start selling on Monday at Club Eden.

“Those in the VIP section will be given special treatment as we’ll connect flat screens that’ll show them footage of what’s happening at the DJs booth. They’ll also have a chance to mix and mingle with Heavy K before he performs,” said TJ Nash.

An emotional and heartbroken Heavy K hogged the limelight earlier this year after being disappointed by Bucie whom he felt should have included him during her acceptance speech after being crowned Best female of the year at this year’s South Africa Music Awards (Sama). Easy to Love, which he worked on with Bucie, had won the Sama.

Bucie, however, responded saying: “It was an award for Bucie as an artiste because I’ve been in the industry for so long.”

Born in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, Heavy K started producing beats at a tender age. In his mid-teens, he wrote Lento for Professor, a song that went on to win a South Africa Music Award.

He initially wanted to be a scientist but when his older brother took him to a music studio at the age of 15, he found his passion in life. He has worked with other artistes including Uhuru, Nokwazi and NaakMusiq.
