HWANGE Ladies FC lock horns with Tanex Queens of Mutare tomorrow at the Old ground hoping the football gods will smile on them this time around as they seek their first win in the Zimbabwe Women Super League.
The coal ladies have a single point to show for their sweat so far.
Hwange ladies, who joined the league this season, opened their season with a goalless draw away to Barrow Jets before three identical 2-1 losses to Auckland Queens (home), Inline Academy (away) and Faith Drive (away). Speaking after their training session on Saturday, the team’s assistant coach Simelweyinkosi Ncube was optimistic the time has come for the team to appease the home fans with a first win.

“I am confident we will make our fans happy with a victory. The two-week break has given us time to train hard and prepare for this game and given the morale in the camp, we will be smiling after the match.

“In the games we lost, it was by small margins and I think we have learnt from that. We also call upon the sponsors to provide us with a big bus when we travel away so that we have support.” she said.

The team’s captain Sekai “Skizo” Dube also declared war on Tanex Queens.
“We will be in a war mood against Tanex. The time for losses is over and we have improved since our first game. I am urging the fans in Hwange to come and enjoy the game as we seek maximum points for the first time,” said Dube.

Her sentiments were echoed by the team’s chief striker Happiness Nkomo who promised to bag a hat-trick in the contest.
Some of the players also expected to give Tanex Queens problems include Colleta Khumalo, Bokani Sibanda, Realise Maphosa and Moreblessing Sibanda.

The match kicks off at 3PM.
