TWO Bulawayo men yesterday appeared in court for stealing about $4 000 from a vehicle in the city.

Nigel Dzinganai Matengo (27) and Mthokozisi Ncube (21) from Entumbane suburb allegedly stole $2 000 and R20 000 from Mr Farai Vengesu’s car on Monday.

The two were accompanied by Winter Foster Chisale who is still at large.

The duo pleaded not guilty to theft when they appeared before magistrate Mr Lungile Ncube.

Matengo and Ncube applied for bail through their lawyer Mr Nqobani Sithole of Phulu and Ncube Legal Practitioners.

The State contested the bail application saying the accused would interfere with the investigation once out of custody.

Mr Ncube granted them $200 bail each on condition that they do not interfere with the investigation and stay at their given addresses.
Matengo and Ncube will appear in court on November 21.

Prosecuting Mr Petros Shoko said on Monday at around 12 PM, the complainant parked his car in front of Oceans Foods along Plumtree Road in Bulawayo.

“The complainant returned after 20 minutes and discovered that the left rear quarter window was smashed and a box containing $2 000 and ZAR 20 000 was missing.”

The complainant made a report at Donnington Police station.

A tip off led to the arrest of Matengo who assisted the police to arrest Ncube.

Total value recovered is about $500.—@SlyCee .
