A 23-YEAR-OLD man from Mashava in Masvingo allegedly teamed up with five men and robbed a miner of his car, $50 and two cell phones.

Admire Pikinini (23) and his five accomplices that are still at large, were given a a lift at Durban Mine business centre in Inyathi by Mr Prince Chirwa in January this year.

On the way the gang allegedly threatened Mr Chirwa of Inyathi with a machete before robbing him of his car, cash and cell phones.

Mr Chirwa who was bundled into the boot of his car, however managed to escape, the court heard.

Pikinini and his partners in crime allegedly drove the stolen vehicle for about 30 metres and it developed a mechanical fault forcing them to abandon it.

Pikinini yesterday appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mrs Sibongile Msipa-Marondedze facing a robbery charge.

He pleaded not guilty and was remanded him in custody to October 4 for continuation of trial.
